At a force assignments meeting held yesterday and led by the head of the IDF Ground Forces, Maj. Gen. Nadav Lotan, it was decided that Lt. Col. G. will become commander of Battalion 52. The appointment comes after the death of Lt. Col. Dor Ben Shimchon in the tank disaster in Lebanon.
According to the IDF spokesman, G. is expected to take up the post in the coming days. The army said he began his service in the 188th Armored Brigade, where he held a series of roles.
Since the start of the war, G. has served as operations officer for the 215th Fire Brigade. He later commanded the command-and-control center in the Northern Brigade and fought in the Gaza Strip.
Over the past year, he established the Dead Sea command-and-control center, also known as “Nir Battalion 843.”
