US Ambassador Vows New Embassy Will Be 'Eternal Home' in Jerusalem
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Hammer spoke with media personality Menachem Toker about his connection to Jerusalem and plans for the new U.S. Embassy in the city. Hammer met Toker at the Jerusalem Mayor's Sukkah, where he extended Sukkot greetings to the people of Israel.
"For 3,000 years, it has been the capital of Israel, the capital of the Jewish people, and so it will always be. I love Jerusalem and have been coming here for 53 years. I never get tired of it. It's an amazing place to visit, but it's also a wonderful city and a worthy place to join," Hammer stated.
When asked by Toker about the construction of the new embassy, Hammer confirmed that the U.S. has acquired property for the site. "We have our property, and it's only a matter of time until we begin the work and construction. It will be our 'eternal home' in Jerusalem," he said.
