New Winter Party Member Outlines Judicial Reform Plans

Advocate Eran Ben Ari, a new addition to Ofer Winter's political party, detailed the party's stance on the judicial system in a Sunday interview with Radio Gal Israel. Ben Ari proposed splitting the Attorney General's role into two distinct positions: one legal advisor serving the government with full trust, and a separate chief prosecutor. Regarding the Supreme Court, he expressed concern over the High Court of Justice serving as both a first and final instance, advocating for citizens and authorities to have the right to appeal its decisions.

Ben Ari emphasized the critical importance of upcoming Supreme Court appointments, with ten judges expected to be appointed during the next term. He described this as a significant opportunity to reach consensus on judicial appointments, stating, "The appointment is the most critical thing there is." The party believes that every effort must be made to achieve agreement on who will fill these judicial vacancies.
