Haifa Bay Environmental Union Deploys Mobile Monitoring Station Near Oil Tank Farm

The Haifa Bay Association for Environmental Protection has deployed a mobile monitoring station near the Oil Tank Farm in Alro'i. The station will operate continuously, providing real-time data on pollutant concentrations and weather conditions, including wind speed and direction, which aids in analyzing pollutant dispersion and identifying potential sources.

The monitoring equipment measures benzene and other volatile organic compounds (BTEX), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O₃), and fine particulate matter (PM2.5). Alro'i and Kiryat Tivon have been under ongoing environmental surveillance for years, utilizing a permanent station at the local council building, mobile station deployments, air sampling, and professional patrols.

Avihu Han, Deputy Mayor of Haifa and Chairman of the Haifa Bay Association for Environmental Protection, stated that the mobile station expands their monitoring capabilities in the area and allows for continuous assessment of air quality for residents. He emphasized the association's commitment to ongoing monitoring and action based on accurate, transparent data.

Dr. Lihi Shahar Berman, CEO of the Haifa Bay Association for Environmental Protection, added that the mobile station provides continuous information on various pollutants alongside wind data, enabling a professional, data-driven assessment of the environmental situation. The collected data will inform future monitoring and professional activities in the region.
