Israel's Isracard Holds Anti-Fraud Seminar for Deaf Community
Credit card giant Isracard, recently acquired by billionaire Yitzhak Tshuva, hosted a seminar focused on preventing online fraud, specifically tailored for Israel's deaf and hard-of-hearing community. The event aimed to equip participants with knowledge and tools to navigate the unique challenges they face in accessing information and services, and in identifying online scams in the digital age.
The seminar addressed the growing complexity of digital fraud attempts, which increasingly leverage new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). Representatives from Isracard, including Mouni Avraham, VP of Risk Management, and Aner Ben Yosef, Head of Fraud Prevention, presented the company's methods for detecting and preventing fraud, as well as protecting customers. They also discussed how the AI revolution is impacting fraud tactics and the necessity for businesses to continuously develop advanced defense mechanisms and tools in collaboration with official and professional entities.
Sahar Marzan, Cyber Defense Manager at Bank Leumi, showcased real-life customer fraud cases through videos and outlined the bank's countermeasures. The event was initiated by Zohar Salem, founder and CEO of Eco-Science, who established a service center for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community in Israel. Salem shared his personal journey that led him to social activism and highlighted the specific challenges faced by the community.
Isracard stated the seminar is part of its commitment to making financial knowledge, services, and tools accessible to diverse audiences and to raise awareness about identifying and defending against fraud attempts. Salem emphasized the need for accessibility, stating, "No one should feel helpless when signing a contract or receiving a service. For many in the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, lack of accessibility can become a breeding ground for exploitation." Avraham added, "Our responsibility is not only to develop advanced systems and tools for fraud detection and prevention but also to provide customers with knowledge and tools. This seminar is an opportunity to connect our professional knowledge and experience with the unique needs of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community and to work together to increase the community's awareness."
