Ex-IDF General Slams Bennett, Liberman for Alliance with Leftist Rivals

Reserve Brigadier General Ofer Winter, head of the Amcha Israel party, sharply criticized former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Avigdor Liberman on Sunday, following a meeting of opposition leaders. Winter stated that voting for Bennett and Liberman is equivalent to voting for Yair Golan, a figure he associates with the left. The statement came after Bennett, Liberman, Golan, Gadi Eisenkot, and Yair Lapid met in Tel Aviv and signed a document pledging mutual non-aggression during the election campaign and coordinated strategy for the upcoming October 27 elections.

Winter invoked past controversial statements by Golan regarding the Gaza war to question the political alignment of the opposition parties. He contrasted this alliance with Amcha Israel's platform, which he described as focused on "defeating the enemy," combating global antisemitism, and rejecting the security approach that preceded the October 7th events.

Winter also offered encouragement to Yoseph Haddad, his party's second-in-command, ahead of a public diplomacy event against an Irish team, framing it as part of Israel's broader struggle. Winter's remarks highlight Amcha Israel's effort to solidify its right-wing positioning, while Bennett and Liberman engage in electoral coordination with diverse opposition factions.
