Police in Bnei Brak say they quickly solved a break-in at the Chernobyl Hasidic institutions complex after discovering a silver set used for the Rebbe’s tish meals. The theft, first reported last week by Behadrei Haredim, involved items valued at about NIS 120,000.
According to the report, the silverware was taken from a room in the Chernobyl compound during the burglary. The objects also had deep historical and sentimental significance for the Hasidic court, beyond their monetary worth.
After the complaint was filed, Bnei Brak police in the Dan District and forensic investigators immediately launched an intensive investigation and collected evidence from the scene. Police then carried out a series of operational steps in the field that led them to the hiding place where the stolen items had been concealed.
The recovered items were brought to the police station. After the required checks are completed, they are expected to be returned soon to the community’s study hall.
