Hapoel Tel Aviv Secures First Win, Advances to Premier League Cup Semifinals

Hapoel Tel Aviv basketball club achieved its first victory of the season, defeating Hapoel Be'er Sheva Dimona 85-67 to advance to the Premier League Cup semifinals. The win eased pressure on the team after two disappointing opening losses in the 2026-27 season.

The game, held in Hadera, saw Hapoel Tel Aviv field five foreign players who had not participated in the Super Cup, including newcomers Thomas Satoransky and Eugene German, alongside Bruno Caboclo making his return. Hapoel Be'er Sheva Dimona, facing Hapoel Tel Aviv for the second consecutive year in the cup quarterfinals, played with only three foreign players and without the injured Golan Gut.

Hapoel Tel Aviv established an early lead, with Tai Odiase dominating the paint and controlling rebounds. Despite early sparks from Be'er Sheva's Lovell Cabbil, Hapoel's strong defense limited their opponent to just 29 points by halftime. Hapoel extended their lead significantly in the second half, going on a 14-2 run early in the third quarter, largely due to Odiase's continued dominance and effective three-point shooting from J'Covan Brown.

While Be'er Sheva's Cabbil and Corey Coleman continued to score, they were unable to overcome the deficit. Hapoel Tel Aviv maintained a comfortable lead throughout the final quarter, with Carrington and Jalen Platin contributing to the scoring, allowing Eugene German to find his rhythm in the closing minutes.
