Arab Israeli Party Ra'am Faces Internal Conflict Over LGBTQ+ Support

A recent 7-minute segment on the Arabic-language channel Makan, part of the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, highlighted a tension within the United Arab List (Ra'am) party. The program, titled "From the Other Side," focused on the party's Islamic values and the fact that its voters helped elect Yoav Segalovitz to the Knesset. Segalovitz is a vocal supporter of legislation benefiting the LGBTQ+ community.

The segment, which aired two days ago, explored the apparent contradiction between Ra'am's conservative Islamic base and the election of a politician who champions LGBTQ+ rights. The author of the post added Hebrew subtitles to the segment and expressed hope that Makan would provide Hebrew subtitles for all its content, suggesting it would open up new and interesting content for Hebrew speakers.
