Former Israeli Air Force Brigadier General Aharon 'Yallo' Shavit Dies
Brigadier General (res.) Aharon 'Yallo' Shavit, a decorated former officer in the Israeli Air Force, has passed away. During his distinguished service, Shavit held numerous significant positions, including commanding an operational squadron and serving as an air attaché in the United States. He was also instrumental in establishing the Air Force's aerobatic team.
Shavit was remembered by his cousin, Mayor Shmuel Boxer, as a "hero" and a "brave and pioneering fighter pilot." Boxer noted that Shavit was the eldest cousin in their family and that his heroic deeds were recognized even before the full extent of his accomplishments was widely known.
Shavit was considered one of the Air Force's most prominent fighter pilots. His contributions extended beyond combat roles, as he played a key part in developing the elite aerobatic demonstration unit.
