Ireland Government Backed Football Association Over Israel Boycott Threat

This support would have come despite the significant sanctions UEFA could have imposed.

According to Irish media, a source close to one of the players stated that the government should intervene and manage the situation. The drama has also drawn the attention of UEFA.

As of Sunday afternoon Israel time, reports from Ireland suggested that no FAI officials had arrived at the hotel where the Irish national team players are staying, adding to the significant disruption. The team's press conference, initially scheduled for 11:15 AM Israel time, was postponed multiple times without prior notice, first to 1:30 PM and then to 4:30 PM, with UEFA and the Israeli Football Association not being updated.

This situation follows reports that five Irish players are unwilling to participate in the match against Israel.
