The Magda Festival will return to the Megiddo Regional Council from September 3 to 5, featuring Noga Erez, Tuna, Berry Sakharof, Dudu Tassa, Hila Ruach and Balkan Beat Box among its main performers. The event opens Thursday evening on two stages, with an after-party running late into the night, and continues Friday with shows by Tuna and Noga Erez, among others. On Saturday morning, a children’s event called "FestiMagda" will include workshops, stalls, circus activities and more.
The lineup also includes Yael Zellinger and Neshama, the stage name of Daniel Yitach. Sima Nona will host rapper Cohen. Jonathan Deskal is scheduled for the after-party.
Festival organizers say the northern event is meant to offer a welcome musical respite after more than two and a half years of war. They are also placing unusual emphasis on accessibility because of the rise in the number of people injured physically and psychologically.
Orly Luria, the Megiddo Regional Council’s culture and accessibility coordinator, said this year’s cooperation will be integrated into the festival itself through music, animation, art and installations, in partnership with Keren Shalem and the "Knafayim, Through Art" association for artists with mental health challenges. She said the accessibility measures include a reduced accessible ticket, a companion ticket and needs-assessment form, an accessible area with nearby parking, an elevated spacious accessible stage, technical solutions as needed, hearing equipment and guidance for the hearing impaired, and a specially trained service team "to ensure an equal, good and pleasant experience for everyone who needs it."
