Irish Football Association Refuses Joint Pre-Match Meal With Israel

Israeli Football Association Chairman Shino Zuarz had extended the invitation, which is standard FIFA protocol for international matches where the host is expected to invite the visiting team. The Israeli FA reportedly intended to use the occasion to address what they perceive as mischaracterizations by the Irish team, particularly concerning statements made by their coach, Heimir Hallgrímsson.

Hallgrímsson's controversial remarks, including calling the match a "genocide game," have drawn criticism. While Irish FA President Paul Cooke stated that Hallgrímsson's comments did not reflect his personal views, the Israeli FA views the lack of a public condemnation from the Irish delegation as indicative of their stance.
