Fatal Chain-Reaction Crash on Route 90 Kills One, Injures Four

A man in his 60s was killed and four others were injured, two critically, in a multi-vehicle accident on Route 90 on Friday evening. The crash involved four vehicles, with emergency responders describing severe damage to all of them. One car was found in a ditch, with the deceased driver inside, while another vehicle was overturned, trapping an unconscious, critically injured passenger. Paramedics pronounced the 60-year-old man dead at the scene. The injured were transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. Police closed Route 90 in both directions following the incident.

This fatal crash follows a particularly deadly previous week on Israeli roads, during which five people died in four separate incidents. These included a motorcyclist killed by a car near Kiryat Ata, a collision between a bus and a taxi on the Ayalon Highway that killed one and injured five, and a two-car crash in the Negev that claimed the lives of two men in their 30s. Earlier on Friday, a cyclist in his 50s was struck and killed by a car in northern Tel Aviv. The driver, a Palestinian staying illegally in Israel, was arrested and is also suspected of stealing the vehicle used in the collision. A bag containing car theft tools was found in the car.
