Soccer Agent Reveals Why Victor Boniface Transfer to Israel Fell Through

Soccer agent Roi Daniel has revealed that Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, now a star for Bayer Leverkusen, was once offered to a top Israeli club but was deemed not "ready" for the Israeli league. Daniel, who previously served as spokesperson for Maccabi Haifa and CEO of Bnei Yehuda, transitioned to sports agency work with a focus on integrity and player welfare.

Daniel explained that he offered Boniface, then an unknown player, to a major Israeli team. The club hesitated, citing concerns about Boniface's readiness. Subsequently, Boniface was sold for 6 million euros to Union SG and then for 22 million euros to Bayer Leverkusen, where he became a key player, helping the team win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal in the 2023-2024 season. Boniface also co-led the Europa League scoring charts in the 2022-2023 season.

In another anecdote, Daniel recounted a deal for a highly-regarded foreign coach who was close to signing with a prominent Israeli club. However, the coach became hesitant due to security concerns. During a video call from the Bloomfield Stadium during a cup final, an air raid siren sounded, causing players to rush off the field, which ultimately deterred the coach from moving to Israel. He later accepted a coaching position in Germany.

Daniel also shared a humorous story about a player who, after getting injured during tryouts for a team in Israel's second division, had his cast cut by the club so he could be put on a plane, as he was not cleared to fly with it. He described the most rewarding aspect of his job as developing unknown players into successful, wealthy individuals, while the most challenging part involves frequent travel and time away from family.
