Israeli Military Fires Interceptor Missile After False Identification Near Lebanon Border

The Israeli military announced on Friday that it had fired an interceptor missile towards a "suspected aerial target" in an area where its forces were stationed in southern Lebanon. The military later clarified that the incident was a result of a "false identification." No sirens were activated in the relevant areas, according to the army's standard policy.

In a related development, an Israeli military force entered the outskirts of the town of Kfar Shuba in southern Lebanon on Friday. The force surrounded a farm where shepherds were present. Simultaneously, Israeli forces conducted shelling and gunfire in several areas of southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the Israeli force penetrated the Sadana area near Kfar Shuba, in the Hasbaya district, and surrounded a farm belonging to the Ghazi Nab'a family, where several shepherds were located. Israeli soldiers reportedly fired shots around the farm, and several artillery shells fell in the vicinity of Sadana.

In the Arqoub district, the outskirts of the town of Hebbariyeh were subjected to intermittent Israeli artillery shelling. This coincided with a wide-ranging search operation using heavy machine guns and the movement of Israeli military vehicles in the area. In the Nabatieh district, an Israeli drone attacked the area between the towns of Kfar Tibnit and Nabatieh al-Fawqa, accompanied by intermittent artillery shelling targeting the outskirts of Kfar Tibnit. Israeli artillery also shelled the Wadi al-Hujair during the night.

In the Tyre district, Israeli artillery shelled the town of Majdal Zoun and its adjacent valleys during the night. Since March 2, Israel has been conducting operations in Lebanon, which Lebanese authorities state have resulted in at least 4,386 deaths, 12,407 injuries, and over a million displaced people. Israel continues its operations despite a US-brokered "framework agreement" signed on June 26, which stipulates a gradual Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
