Rami Levy's Daughter Blames State for High Cost of Living

Yafit Atias Levy, daughter of Rami Levy and co-CEO of the Rami Levy supermarket chain, has asserted that the Israeli state, not retail chains, is responsible for the high cost of living. In an interview with "TheMarker," Atias Levy stated that accusations against supermarkets are a misdirection, diverting attention from the real culprits: excessive government regulation, bureaucracy, and constant increases in taxes, electricity, and municipal property taxes (Arnona).

Atias Levy, who was appointed co-CEO of the nearly 8 billion shekel per year company this year, defended the chain's pricing transparency. She argued that if the company were artificially inflating prices, it would be evident in its net or gross profits, which it is not.

She also addressed criticism regarding the employment of family members within the company. Atias Levy dismissed these claims, stating that out of 8,000 employees, her management team is not solely composed of family. She described appointing someone to a senior role solely based on family ties as "suicidal" and expressed confidence that her father appointed her based on her skills and her decade of experience as VP of Marketing.

Previously, a segment from an interview with Atias Levy on the "Hidabrut" channel revealed her emphasis on the value of respecting parents, a principle she attributes to her upbringing. She shared how her parents demonstrated profound respect and deference towards their own parents, a value she deeply internalizes.
