Over 100 Arrested in Manhattan Protests Against Netanyahu's UN Visit
New York City police reported that more than 100 individuals were arrested in Manhattan during protests against the arrival of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the United Nations General Assembly. The demonstrations were organized by pro-Palestinian groups and the anti-Zionist Jewish organization "Jewish Voice for Peace" (JVP).
Among those detained were Democratic congressional candidate Dria'na Chevelier, actresses Susan Sarandon, Cynthia Nixon, and Hannah Einbinder. Stephanie Fox, the executive director of Jewish Voice for Peace, stated, "We are here not only to oppose Netanyahu but to say stop arming Israel and stop the genocide. We demand an end to impunity and complicity in crime right here."
The protests were reportedly supported by Mayor Zohran Madani.
