Jonathan Motley's EuroLeague Debut Ranks Among Worst Ever
Jonathan Motley, a former Hapoel Tel Aviv player, had a historically poor official debut for Crvena Zvezda in their EuroLeague season opener against Zalgiris Kaunas on Thursday. Despite the team's 83-77 loss, Motley's individual performance was exceptionally bad.
Starting for Crvena Zvezda, Motley struggled significantly against Zalgiris's Jonas Valanciunas. In 14:08 minutes on the court, he recorded only 2 points on 1-of-7 shooting, 0 rebounds, 2 assists, 6 turnovers, and 5 fouls, including 4 offensive fouls. His performance resulted in a plus-minus rating of -13.
This -13 rating is the second-worst ever recorded in a EuroLeague game, surpassed only by Luka Zoric's -14. It is considered the worst debut performance in the league's history. In a critical moment with 1:30 left in the game, Motley committed his fifth foul, an offensive charge, which effectively ended his team's chances of a comeback.
