France to Deploy Troops and Air Defense to Saudi Arabia

France is intensifying its involvement in defending strategic energy infrastructure in the Middle East, while also bolstering its assessments of sabotage and hybrid threats within Europe. As part of this initiative, France will dispatch soldiers, radar systems, and air defense systems to protect the oil export port of Yanbu in Saudi Arabia. President Emmanuel Macron clarified that this is a defensive agreement with the Saudis aimed solely at securing the site, without direct involvement or participation in combat.

Regarding the situation in Europe, Macron stated that Russia is increasing its hostile hybrid operations against European nations. However, he denied reports of a specific warning from the CIA concerning a planned Russian attack in the heart of Europe. The President added that France is preparing for potential attacks similar to the failed attempt at Leipzig Airport in Germany.

Macron was noted as one of the most vocal speakers against Israel at the UN the previous day, being the only Western leader to speak negatively about Israel. The current move to bolster defenses in the Middle East suggests a renewed focus on demonstrating strength globally, particularly in the region.
