Israeli troops from Unit 636 killed two militants overnight after they tried to carry out a firebomb attack on the settlement of Karmi Tzur in the Etzion area. A third militant was neutralized, and the army said it was still searching for additional suspects who fled the scene.
According to the IDF, the unit had set up a planned ambush when several militants were identified setting tires on fire and throwing Molotov cocktails toward the community. The soldiers opened fire, killing two of them and neutralizing another. The military said there were no casualties among Israeli security forces.
The burning tires sparked a fire in the area near Karmi Tzur. Firefighters from the Judea and Samaria district were called to the scene and were working to extinguish the blaze and stop it from spreading.
At the same time, IDF forces continued searches in the area to locate other members of the cell. The army said its troops would keep operating in Judea and Samaria, in both defensive and offensive roles, to protect local residents and prevent further attacks.
