Hapoel Tel Aviv Opens EuroLeague Season With Unconventional Starting Five
Hapoel Tel Aviv kicked off their EuroLeague season on Thursday against Bayern Munich with a surprising starting lineup. The team featured a large five-man unit, including two power forwards and a center playing alongside each other. Guards Vasilije Micić and Elijah Bryant, forward/center J'shawn Winnright, power forward Zach LeDay, and center Dan Ortu were all in the starting lineup.
Winnright, who played as the starting power forward last season, shifted to the small forward position, contributing to the team's significant height advantage. LeDay, known as one of the EuroLeague's top three-point shooters with a 49.5% success rate last season, entered as the starting power forward.
This starting five differed from the SuperCup lineup, which saw Bar Timor and Antonio Blakeney start alongside Micić, LeDay, and Ortu. The heights of the starting players are: Micić (1.96m), Bryant (1.96m), Winnright (1.96m), LeDay (2.02m), and Ortu (2.08m).
