Nets Rotation Projection Places Ben Scherf Third String Point Guard

As the Brooklyn Nets prepare to open training camp for the 2026-27 NBA season, local media are analyzing the team's projected rotation under new coach Jordi Fernandez. According to Eric Slater of Clutchpoints, Israeli guard Ben Scherf is expected to be the third-string point guard, behind Michael Brown Jr. and Nolan Traore.

Slater noted that Traore has an advantage over Scherf as a playmaker and shooter, despite Traore's poor shooting percentage near the rim last season. Scherf's own shooting statistics were also highlighted as a concern, with a field goal percentage of 39.6% and 3-point percentage of 21.1%. Michael Brown Jr. was described as Brooklyn's most talented young guard in decades.

Forward Deni Avdija is projected to be the third-string small forward, behind Michael Porter Jr. and Josh Mienot. Avdija, who played significant minutes on the wing as a rookie, also struggled offensively. His three-point shooting was 32.2% and his two-point shooting was 48.0%, the lowest in the league among players over 2.06 meters who played more than 1,000 minutes.

Despite these struggles, Avdija is noted for his intriguing skillset, including size, dribbling, and playmaking ability. The recent two-year, $9.5 million contract extension for Mienot suggests his role in the rotation. The projected full rotation includes several other players at each position, with notable names like Julius Randle and Mo Wagner also listed.
