Rapper Dzhigan Denies Assault Allegations Amidst Israeli Rehab Stay

Russian rapper Denis Ustimenko-Vaynstein, known as Dzhigan, is facing an official investigation following allegations of an armed assault on his staff at his Moscow region mansion. Dzhigan, who is currently in Israel for rehabilitation, has vehemently denied the accusations, claiming the circulated videos showing him with a weapon were staged for a music video shoot and are part of a deliberate provocation by his detractors. He stated, "It's a provocation. Let them write what they want. I was shooting a video, and the haters twisted everything."

Despite the artist's claims and the absence of formal complaints from alleged victims, Russian law enforcement has initiated a comprehensive probe to assess the situation legally. The investigation will reportedly include medical and drug tests for the rapper, which could influence the charges.

Legal expert Andrey Nekrasov commented that if the shooting is proven to be intentional and aimed at vital organs, Dzhigan could face attempted murder charges. Additionally, his actions might be investigated under statutes concerning unlawful imprisonment, hooliganism, and torture. If convicted on multiple charges, the rapper could receive a prison sentence of five to seven years, with reconciliation not always guaranteeing an end to prosecution in public interest cases.
