Amit Segal Recalls Sukkot Mishap in London with Pork

Israeli journalist Amit Segal shared two contrasting memories of the Sukkot holiday during a special program titled "Ushpizin" on the "Reshet Makor Rishon" channel. While living in London, Segal and other Israelis established a sukkah in their dormitory, feeling a stronger connection to the holiday away from home. A neighbor, a Chinese woman, brought them a gift of food to celebrate, but it contained pork, which is forbidden in Judaism. Segal described the incident as "classic."

Segal contrasted this anecdote with a more somber recollection from a visit to Kibbutz Kfar Aza in the aftermath of the October 7th Hamas attack. He described seeing the sukkahs still standing, marked with bullet holes, a stark reminder of the halted lives and the devastation. He stated that those who were there would never forget the sight.
