Israeli Drug Firm Repa Secures Major US Defense Deal, Stock Soars
Israeli pharmaceutical company Repa has signed a significant five-year framework agreement with the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency, an entity under the American Department of Defense. The deal, spanning from 2026 to 2030, will see Repa supply automatic midazolam injectors designed for emergency medical treatment, including life-threatening situations.
The initial order is valued at approximately $82.5 million, with the potential to grow to as much as $257 million based on the U.S. defense system's needs. This agreement continues Repa's long-standing collaboration with U.S. security agencies and strengthens its position in the emergency and biodefense product sector.
Investors reacted positively to the news, causing Repa's stock to surge on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The share price reached 2,311 agorot (NIS 23.11), a jump of about 35% within an hour, compared to a base price of 1,712 agorot (NIS 17.12).
The deal highlights Israel's ongoing success in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, often referred to as 'Startup Nation.' This follows other recent significant transactions, such as Olympus's acquisition of Israeli company BioProtect for around $270 million in May and Artivion's potential $335 million acquisition of Endospan.
