Gafni Praises High Court Decision to Release Haredi Education Funds

Member of Knesset Moshe Gafni, chairman of the Degel HaTorah movement, expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court's decision to release funds for Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) education, including salaries for kindergarten teachers. Gafni stated he was pleased that the court's decision aligned with the legal framework, calling the funds essential for the Haredi education system, its teachers, institutions, and activities.

He extended his gratitude to the Knesset's legal advisors, including Adv. Shagit Afik, the Knesset's legal advisor, and Adv. Shulamit Erlich, the legal advisor to the Finance Committee, for their clear and professional stance and legal opinions that supported the process in the Finance Committee.

Gafni also sharply criticized the petition that challenged the release of funds. He asserted that the process followed Knesset regulations and was entirely proper, describing the petition as "vexatious and unnecessary." He noted that it was clear from the outset that the petition would be dismissed, and expressed happiness that the Supreme Court justices accepted this position and ordered the release of the funds.

He emphasized the critical importance of the immediate transfer of these budgets, ensuring they reach their intended recipients and serve the crucial goals for which they were approved.
