Record Numbers of Devotees Flock to Uman for Yom Kippur

This year's Yom Kippur saw an exceptionally large gathering at the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in Uman, Ukraine, with many pilgrims choosing to remain after Rosh Hashanah in significantly higher numbers than in previous years. The intense crowding within the tomb complex was palpable.

Immediately following the Rosh Hashanah holiday, the United Breslov organization's staff launched a cleanup and preparation operation for the sacred site ahead of Yom Kippur. These efforts included cleaning the tomb, removing old notices, reorganizing prayer books, and restoring order throughout the halls, ensuring the site was properly prepared for the holy day.

A worshipper present at the site described an unprecedented level of enthusiasm and density, stating, "I don't think there has ever been such a crowded Yom Kippur in Uman. There was no space in the inner hall or the large hall." Due to the lack of space in the main halls, worshippers formed additional prayer quorums throughout the complex.
