Iran's foreign ministry said negotiations in Switzerland between an Iranian delegation led by parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and a U.S. delegation led by Vice President J.D. Vance ended after 18 hours. According to the ministry, technical teams will continue working after the talks.
The Iranian spokesman said the mediators, Qatar and Pakistan, will publish a document setting out the general points on which understandings were reached. He said the talks covered the framework for starting negotiations toward a final agreement.
On maritime passage through the Strait of Hormuz, the spokesman said, "an arrangement mechanism was agreed," and added that there had been "good progress" on implementing the other side's commitments. No date was given for the next stage of talks or for publication of the mediators' text.
