Yair Golan Vows to Fight Ben-Gvir's Party in Knesset and Streets

Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, has sharply criticized National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and his Otzma Yehudit party after the Central Elections Committee rejected a petition to disqualify them from running in the upcoming elections. Golan asserted that the decision was made by a committee with a "political majority for the Likud and its partners."

Golan accused Ben-Gvir and his party of representing a "Kahanist and racist ideology," citing Ben-Gvir's past convictions for incitement to racism and support for a terror organization. He claimed Otzma Yehudit targets Arabs, LGBTQ+ individuals, and the courts, calling the party a "danger to Israeli democracy." Golan vowed to fight them "in the court, in the Knesset, and in the street," and if necessary, at the ballot box on October 27th.

Furthermore, Golan criticized Ben-Gvir's performance as National Security Minister, stating that under his tenure, "citizen security has become abandoned," referencing numerous murders within the Arab community. He also accused Ben-Gvir of politicizing the police and providing "encouragement to Jewish terrorism" in the West Bank.

Golan concluded by stating that if the Democratic Party is part of the next government, he intends to remove Ben-Gvir from the National Security Ministry and expel Otzma Yehudit from the government. He pledged to "return the police to its role: to protect citizens. All citizens. Jews and Arabs."
