Maccabi Tel Aviv are close to signing center Richaun Holmes, according to Sport 5, which reported that the Israeli champions are in advanced negotiations with the veteran big man as they build for next season.
The move comes after Maccabi lost Game 3 and missed a chance to win the title, but continues working on its roster for the coming campaign. The report says the club believes it has found its starting center.
Holmes, 32, stands 2.06 meters and joined Panathinaikos last summer for his first season in Europe after a long NBA career. He was expected to be the Greek club’s marquee player and signed a two-year deal worth $2.5 million per season.
Holmes left Panathinaikos near the end of the season, and Maccabi now appears to be close to bringing him in. Further details were not provided.
