Arab Affairs Analyst Warns of Impending Disaster in West Bank

Arab affairs commentator Zvi Yehezkeli warned on Thursday that the West Bank is a "powder keg" and that Israel is not doing enough to prevent another massacre similar to the October 7th attacks. Speaking on Radio Galey Israel, Yehezkeli stated that 85% of West Bank residents supported the October 7th massacre, yet Israel's response has been insufficient.

Yehezkeli criticized Israel's approach, contrasting its focus on Gaza with its perceived inaction in the West Bank. He argued that Israel "wakes up" to events in Gaza due to the scale of violence there, while "falls asleep" in the West Bank where "blood is spilled slowly." He questioned the effectiveness of current deterrents, such as blowing up terrorists' homes, calling it a "dull explosion" that destroys only one room and suggesting it invites future attacks.

He further criticized the continued adherence to the Oslo Accords, pointing to the presence of 70,000 weapons in the West Bank. Yehezkeli called for a shift away from the Oslo framework, advocating for decisive government action and questioning why Israel is not actively preparing for a potential "October 7th" scenario in the West Bank. He believes that the current level of violence already necessitates a change in policy, starting with abandoning the Oslo Accords.
