Electoral Committee Rejects Bid to Disqualify Jewish Power Party

The Central Elections Committee narrowly rejected a request to disqualify the far-right Jewish Power party from running in the upcoming elections, with a vote of 11 to 10. The representative of the Attorney General also opposed the disqualification, but issued a warning regarding the evidence presented, stating that the "accumulation of evidence brings the party dangerously close to the forbidden zone."

Following the decision, Jewish Power chairman and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir criticized the Democrats, who filed the petition, as well as former Prime Ministers Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid. Ben-Gvir expressed astonishment that Bennett and Lapid abstained from voting to disqualify the Arab parties Ra'am and the Joint List yesterday, but sought to disqualify him today. "It's unbelievable," he stated.

Ben-Gvir further asserted that just as there were attempts to harm him physically, there were attempts to politically eliminate him. He vowed to continue working for "the people of Israel, the land of Israel, and the Torah of Israel," and to act against "terrorists in prisons" and to arm the Israeli people.
