Widow of Fallen IDF Officer Marries Again, Honors Late Husband

Hana Cohen, the widow of Sergeant Major (res.) Uriel Cohen, who fell in combat in Gaza nearly three years ago, remarried on Wednesday to Amit Eshel. The emotional ceremony took place at "HaAchzava" halls and was attended by family and friends.

The evening before the wedding, Hana shared a poignant message on Instagram dedicated to her late husband, who was killed in December 2023. "Uriel, my beloved, you are an inseparable part of us. I heard you will arrive at the chuppah with all the souls connected to us. Do us a favor, accompany us. Give strength to me and our daughters. We will never forget you," she wrote alongside a photo of Uriel.

During the chuppah ceremony, Hana spoke movingly about her love for both Uriel and Amit. "In all the great sorrow, I was privileged to love two high and special souls simultaneously, Uriel and Amit," she said, her voice choked with emotion. She described Uriel as "forever young, with his beautiful blue eyes and big smile," and welcomed Amit, whom her daughters call "tall," into their lives, noting his "courage, sensitivity, and special devotion."

Uriel Cohen, 33, from Tzur Hadassah, was a tank commander in the administrative support unit of the Givati Brigade. He fell in battle in southern Gaza, leaving behind his wife and two young daughters, Shir, who was two years old, and Leah, who was only six months old at the time of his death. Hana had previously told Channel 14 that Uriel knew his fate was uncertain, saying, "If I have to die, then die a meaningful death."

Among the guests were Knesset member Limor Son Har Melech, who shared a blessing for the couple's happiness, and Hadassah Ben Ari, who reflected on the profound emotions of the ceremony, noting Hana's strength as a wife and mother who "gave her dearest to the country."
