Tel Aviv University has been ranked first among Israeli universities in the QS World University Rankings for 2027, one of the most influential rankings in global higher education. The survey examined more than 1,500 universities worldwide and draws on about 17.5 million academic papers and 240,000 interviews with academics and employers.
QS, compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds, assesses institutions annually using measures such as teaching, research, citations, academic reputation, employer reputation, and international outlook. This year’s global top three were MIT, Stanford, and the University of Oxford.
Tel Aviv University placed 208th worldwide, ahead of all other Israeli institutions. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem ranked 218th, the Technion 334th, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev 533rd, Bar-Ilan University in the 711 to 720 range, and the University of Haifa in the 801 to 850 range.
The university’s strongest showing was in citations per faculty, where it ranked 29th in the world. That metric carries 20% of the overall score and is used to gauge the quality and international impact of research. The ranking underscores Tel Aviv University’s research influence relative to other Israeli universities.
