Ethiopian Airlines Expands Routes, Offers Discounts from Ben Gurion Airport

Ethiopian Airlines is significantly expanding its route network, adding new destinations including Durban in South Africa, Nampula in Mozambique, and Port Harcourt in Nigeria. The airline is also extending its service to the popular island of Mauritius. This expansion is part of a strategy to establish Addis Ababa as a major aviation hub connecting the Middle East and the world to Africa and the Indian Ocean.

Amidst intense competition, Ethiopian Airlines is also focusing on service and pricing. Passengers flying from Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) on connecting flights (ET414/ET415) can receive a 10% discount on the base fare. Special benefits are available for travelers under 23, and the first date change is free. A key differentiator is the airline's generous baggage policy, offering two checked bags of 23 kg each for economy class and two bags of 32 kg each for business class, included in the ticket price across all fare types.

This move positions Ethiopian Airlines not just as an accessible option for exotic destinations but as an aggressive competitor challenging international airlines. The airline has also strengthened its presence in the Israeli market. From September 6 to October 6, 2026, Ethiopian Airlines will increase its flights from Ben Gurion Airport, adding services on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to provide Israeli passengers with greater flexibility.
