Netanyahu to Oppose Western Sanctions on Settlements at UN

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to speak out against increasing Western pressure regarding Israeli settlements and settler violence in Judea and Samaria during his address at the UN General Assembly. This stance comes as twelve Western nations announced plans earlier in September to introduce or support trade restrictions on settlements. Specifically, the UK, France, and Canada have declared intentions to ban imports from settlements and take action against associated companies and individuals.

According to Channel 12, Israeli authorities believe Britain and France are attempting to persuade the Trump administration to adopt a tougher stance. Israel also fears that restrictions initially targeting settlements and businesses outside the "green line" could inadvertently impact companies within Israel due to complex supply chains.

Netanyahu is also anticipated to defend Israel's actions in Gaza and Judea and Samaria. Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that President Trump does not believe the world needs another crisis in Judea and Samaria.
