Binyamin Regional Council Head Calls for Evacuating Villages After Terror Attack

Israel Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, visited the family of Neriah Leitersdorf, who was injured in a car-ramming attack on Route 443. Gantz was at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, where doctors were fighting for Leitersdorf's life. Leitersdorf, son of Hani and Yechiel Leitersdorf, residents of the settlement of Eli in the Binyamin region, continued his long and significant reserve duty even after his brother Moshe fell in combat in Gaza.

Gantz conveyed his support to the Leitersdorf family, expressing prayers for Neriah's recovery on behalf of the residents of Binyamin. He stated that following the attack, he spoke at length with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the latter's departure to the United States.

Following two attacks in Binyamin within a few days, Gantz urged the government to take immediate action. He called for a clear declaration that a Palestinian state would not be established, for the renewal of control over open areas in Binyamin, Judea, and Samaria, and for decisive action against terrorists.

Specifically, Gantz proposed that villages from which attackers emerge should be evacuated, thoroughly searched for weapons, and cleared. He emphasized the urgency of these measures, stating, "Now, before it is too late."
