Former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and his wife, Dafna Bar-Agasi, were urgently evacuated from the United Arab Emirates after an unusual security alert raised concerns for their safety, Hebrew channel 13 reported Sunday evening. Bar had been in the UAE for a special security conference hosted by Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed.
The event brought together senior figures from security, intelligence and decision-making circles from several countries around the world. During Bar’s stay, the rare warning was received, prompting a decision to remove the couple from the country immediately.
According to the report, they were flown back to Israel in a special, urgent operation. Since stepping down as Shin Bet chief, Bar has continued to be involved in various public initiatives. No response was issued on his behalf.
