US Secretary of State Marco Rubio Discusses Gaza's Future

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed reporters at the United Nations, outlining American perspectives on several key global issues, including the future of the Gaza Strip. He stated that the path to resolving the situation in Gaza involves its complete removal of Hamas and disarmament, expressing hope that the process of disarming the territory would commence soon.

Rubio further elaborated that following the dismantling of Hamas, Gaza would be governed by a Palestinian leadership that "reflects the will of the people." This vision for Gaza was presented shortly after Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi concluded a speech at the UN, during which he leveled harsh accusations against the United States.

Beyond Gaza, Rubio touched upon Iran's regional influence, asserting that Iran and its proxies pose a significant threat to the entire Middle East, particularly highlighting the Saudi-Houthi conflict. He affirmed that the U.S. would continue its support for Saudi Arabia despite threats from Houthi officials and confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz remains open for navigation.

Rubio also provided an update on Iraq, noting the ongoing process of disarming Iranian militias. He acknowledged that the Iraqi Prime Minister had postponed the militia disarmament deadline by nine months, to June 30, 2027, but expressed confidence in Iraq's commitment to limiting arms possession.

Additionally, Rubio mentioned that President Trump faces multiple options regarding Iran, including potential military actions, indicating that an attack on Iran has not been ruled out.
