Bereaved Families to Ask Shin Bet Chief to Probe Ra'am's Terror Ties

The "Choosing to Live" forum of bereaved Israeli families intends to approach Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar in the coming days, requesting an updated security assessment regarding allegations of connections between the Ra'am party and support for terrorism. This move follows the Attorney General's decision not to seek a new assessment from the Shin Bet, opting instead to rely on an older opinion from the previous Shin Bet head.

The forum argues that new investigations and documents have emerged since the prior assessment, implicating organizations linked to the Islamic Movement. These alleged findings include financial transfers to charities identified with Hamas and ties to previously shuttered aid groups. The forum insists that the Shin Bet must examine this current information and present its findings to the Central Elections Committee.

"The Israeli public is entitled to know if a party running for the Knesset is connected to terror elements," a source from the forum stated. "If the Attorney General doesn't want to ask, we will go directly to the Shin Bet chief."
