Israel Celebrates Sukkot With Nationwide Festivals and Activities
Israel is offering a wide array of events, performances, and attractions across the country for families and individuals to enjoy during the Sukkot holiday. From historical reenactments to culinary festivals and scientific explorations, there are activities to suit diverse interests.
In the north, the ancient Crusader fortress in Acre will host a sound and light show depicting the city's history, alongside a family quest game in the Knights' Halls. The show utilizes 22 projectors on the fortress walls, featuring animations and original music. The quest game is self-guided. These events coincide with the Acre Festival, which includes street performances. In Nof HaGalil, a chocolate festival celebrating the city's 70th anniversary will feature chocolatiers, parades, workshops, and entertainment, with free entry to the festival itself.
The Sea of Galilee area offers guided tours focusing on heritage and nature, including a walk from Arik Bridge to Beit Ha'Bak and a route from Diamond Beach to Korsi Beach with nature workshops. Participants can also engage in hands-on science activities aboard a floating laboratory, collecting water and soil samples from the lake. In central Israel, Tel Aviv will host a guided tour exploring the city's history as the "first Hebrew intelligence city," focusing on the activities of the Lehi and Etzel underground movements. In Moshav Bror Chayil, a free knitting installation exhibition will be held in memory of artist Zahava Shachori. The Dan Region Wastewater Treatment Center (Agamon) in Rishon LeZion offers tours explaining its operations, an exhibition on its 70 years of activity, and a show about water.
Jerusalem's National Library presents "From Sea to Space: The National Library Invites Children to 'Infinity,'" with interactive activities about exploration on land, sea, and space, including a world map exploration, a play about Marco Polo, a planetarium show, and an exhibition on universal questions. The Jerusalem Biblical Zoo offers guided and self-guided tours focusing on animal diets, with various ticket prices for different visitor categories. In Modi'in, the "Sparks" festival will illuminate the city with acrobatics, laser and fire shows, circus performances, and light parades, centered around themes of light and electricity.
In the south, the Dimona Desert Festival provides family-friendly activities like Sukkot crafting, camel rides, stargazing, and scorpion safaris, alongside adult-focused events such as yoga, breathing workshops, and performances by artists like Dudu Tassa. Timna Park offers "Archaeologist for a Day" experiences, joining real excavations, along with evening tours and a nighttime illumination event called "Timna By Night." Beer Sheva's Science Park hosts "The Great Water Festival" with giant inflatable water attractions, escape rooms, foam cannons, science shows, and interactive exhibits.
Additionally, the Revolution Orchestra will perform a concert accompanying a screening of Charlie Chaplin's film "Modern Times" in Tel Aviv and Haifa to mark the film's 90th anniversary.
