KFC Weighs Options for Israel Operations Amid Financial Struggles
Fast-food chain KFC is reportedly considering its future in Israel due to ongoing operational difficulties. According to "Walla Food," several options are being evaluated, including further scaling back its presence in the country. However, KFC has not officially announced any decision to cease operations, and its existing branches continue to function normally.
These developments come approximately 18 months after a previous franchisee closed eight KFC locations across Israel, including branches in Zichron Yaakov, Hof Tzemach, Nov Glil, Be'er Sheva, Ramla, Kfar Saba, and Yarka. Following that crisis, operations were transferred to a different franchisee in an effort to improve the brand's performance in Israel.
A source close to the company indicated that KFC is facing challenges and exploring various possibilities, such as reducing its operations. An employee also stated that the chain is experiencing the broader difficulties affecting the restaurant industry since October 7th, emphasizing that branches remain open and the franchisee who closed locations last year is no longer involved.
KFC initially returned to Israel in 2020 under a new franchise agreement, following earlier attempts to establish a presence in the 1980s and 1990s. In March 2025, eight branches operated by the Mifko franchise were shut down due to operational issues, after which the remaining branches were handed over to a new franchisee. The current reports suggest that the scale of KFC's operations in Israel is once again under review.
The marketing department for KFC Israel told "Walla Food" that there is no comment at this time and that the branches are operating as usual. No official announcement regarding departure from Israel or a new wave of closures has been made, and business continues at the existing locations.
