Reservists Serve Through Holidays on Northern Front

Reservists from Battalion 5030 have been deployed to the Mount Dov region on Israel's northern border, continuing their service through the recent Jewish holidays of Sukkot and Simchat Torah. This marks the battalion's fifth reserve duty since the start of the war, accumulating approximately 450 days of service, with the current deployment totaling around 100 days of activity in the north. Last week, the soldiers completed a significant operation targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in the Mount Dov area. During the mission, they discovered weapons caches and multiple ready-to-fire missile launchers aimed at Israeli territory, loaded with missiles and marked with target lists.

Major (Res.) N., a company commander in the battalion, stated that the troops began reconnaissance a week prior and quickly located the missiles. "We knew there was enemy entrenchment there, and that we would need to return for a second operation in that location," he explained. The forces neutralized one launcher, confiscated some of the weaponry, and destroyed the rest. Further searches for military equipment were conducted throughout the Mount Dov sector.

For the reservists, this is the third consecutive year serving during the High Holidays. Three of their five reserve duty periods since the war began have fallen during holiday seasons. Sergeant First Class (Res.) R. spoke about the personal sacrifice and the sense of mission. "When my children see me going out for reserve duty, they also see their mother supporting me and holding down the home front while I'm away," he said. "I am essentially passing on a value to them: understanding that sometimes you need to leave something private, like family or business, to serve a much greater purpose."
