Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to close another stage of his testimony this week, after his cross-examination ended last week and his lawyers’ “re-examination” phase is expected to finish now. On Thursday, a separate legal proceeding is also scheduled involving defendants Ben Caspit and Uri Misgav.
The article says Netanyahu has already testified for a record 96 days in the ongoing trial, another unprecedented figure that also includes repeated cancellations and shortened hearings, most of them requested by him. Even so, the testimony that began in December 2024 is approaching its end.
The assessment is that Netanyahu tried to stretch the testimony until after the court recess, which begins on July 20 and lasts until the start of September. After that come the Jewish holidays and elections. The report says it is not certain he will succeed, because re-examination is usually brief.
