Syrian President Suggests Israel Take New Jersey Over Golan Heights

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad revealed on Wednesday that he proposed a novel solution to U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the Golan Heights dispute. Speaking on the sidelines of a UN General Assembly event, Assad recounted telling Trump, "Why don't you give the Israelis New Jersey?" This remark came after Trump expressed support for Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, a territory Syria considers its own.

Assad reportedly told Trump that while the Golan Heights was not Trump's to give away, New Jersey was. He further criticized Israel's actions, stating that the presidential palace and Syrian airports had been attacked by Israel twice. Assad questioned whether these actions would bring security to Israeli citizens, contrasting Syria's relations with the U.S., Britain, and Lebanon, which he described as successful. He concluded that he believes the problem lies with Israel, not Syria.
