Israel Launches UN Propaganda Campaign Highlighting 'Industry of Lies'
Israel has launched a new digital campaign titled "The UN's Industry of Lies" to counter what it describes as systematic bias and repetitive accusations against the country within United Nations bodies. The campaign, initiated by the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism in collaboration with the National Public Diplomacy Directorate, coincides with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's expected address and the opening of the UN General Assembly's general debate in New York.
The campaign's flagship video depicts the UN General Assembly hall filled with parrots representing different nations, repeatedly chanting "Blame Israel." This chorus grows until it fills the hall, symbolizing the amplification of anti-Israel narratives. The video concludes with the message, "Repeating lies doesn’t make them true," directing viewers to a dedicated website.
The initiative aims to illustrate how unsubstantiated claims against Israel are disseminated through UN agencies, international bodies, and media outlets, eventually gaining the appearance of accepted fact. The campaign's website, developed with the National Security Council, compiles research and data on information manipulation, false claims regarding the humanitarian situation, Hamas's involvement with UNRWA, and evidence of internal UN cover-ups.
Produced by the Government Press Office, the campaign focuses on digital promotion in Western countries, particularly the United States and European capitals. Minister of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism, Amichai Chikli, stated that the UN General Assembly hall has become a "sounding board for libels against Israel," where repeated lies are presented as accepted truth. He added that the video sharply illustrates this "culture of recitation."
Head of the National Public Diplomacy Directorate, Tzipi Hotovely, asserted that many false blood libels against Israel originate from UN reports, citing the false starvation campaign as an example of the "lie machine." She emphasized that the campaign aims to counter this propaganda with truth and facts.
