Arab MK Slams Eisenkot's Support for Disqualifying MK Abu Arara

Member of Knesset (MK) Youssef Jabareen has strongly criticized former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot's support for the potential disqualification of MK Sami Abu Arara, calling it a dangerous stance that undermines the political representation of Arab citizens. Jabareen stated that the effort to remove Abu Arara is part of a broader struggle for the nature of parliamentary representation for the Arab public and their right to political participation.

Jabareen accused Eisenkot of joining Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's attempts to delegitimize the political role of Arab citizens and to implement policies of exclusion and repression against them. He emphasized that the freedom to elect and be elected is a fundamental right, and no one has the authority to dictate who represents the Arab community.

Furthermore, Jabareen pointed out the contradiction in Eisenkot's position, arguing that he cannot advocate for a change in the far-right government while simultaneously endorsing what he termed the government's "fascist" actions against the political representation of Arab citizens. Jabareen asserted that his party, the sole faction within the Joint List advocating for peace, equality, and social justice, has a political program they are proud of.
