President Donald Trump sharpened his warnings to Tehran on Sunday, saying Iran is responsible for Hezbollah’s activity in Lebanon and must immediately stop its regional proxies. In a post on his social network, he said that if Iran does not act, the United States will strike again, “very hard,” even harder than last week’s attack.
Trump wrote, “Iran must immediately stop the proxies in Lebanon, the highly paid proxies, from causing trouble. If they don’t, we will hit Iran again very hard, just like we did last week, only harder!!!” His remarks came alongside a broader escalation of rhetoric toward Tehran while nuclear negotiations between the two countries continue in Switzerland.
Earlier on Fox News, Trump said he “holds all the cards” against the Iranian regime and warned that if the talks in Switzerland do not make progress, “I have a 60-day option and then I will do what I want.” He also attacked Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian over comments about continuing uranium enrichment, saying, “He’d better keep his mouth shut, he’d better get himself together, or we’ll take over the rest of the country.”
Trump said the confrontation with Iran is the main issue in the region and that resolving it would affect other fronts as well. He also expressed disappointment with Israel’s fight against Hezbollah, said he is considering giving Syria a larger role against the terror group, and suggested Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa could act in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah. The talks in Switzerland continue amid disputes over the nuclear program, sanctions, and Iran’s regional proxies.
