Liberman Accuses Netanyahu of Orchestrating Endless Elections

Avigdor Liberman, chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party and a Knesset member, has sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of deliberately aiming to drag Israel into a cycle of perpetual elections. Liberman claims Netanyahu fears he cannot win a regular election and is therefore seeking to prevent the formation of an alternative government, thereby remaining as a caretaker prime minister.

Liberman suggested that Netanyahu's strategy involves encouraging Arab voter turnout, referencing a past statement by Netanyahu about Arabs heading to the polls. According to Liberman, Netanyahu now wants to ensure high turnout for parties like Ra'am and the Joint List to maximize their mandates, which would consequently lead to repeated election rounds.

Liberman asserted that these prolonged election cycles would severely harm the country but would serve Netanyahu's personal interests by keeping him in power. He characterized this strategy as "despicable and malicious" but fitting for Netanyahu.
